Tickets go on sale at 10 this morning for what is surely the most anticipated run of concerts to hit our region since the pandemic began. Jimmy Buffett, iconic epitomizer of the tropical Florida mythos, will perform a four-night residency at the Pavilion at Old School Square May 13-14, and May 17-18.
Buffett, who owns one of the more reclusive mansions on Palm Beach, likely won’t have to travel far to play these gigs, but the venue is significant, offering Parrotheads the opportunity to see the living legend at a rare mid-sized venue.
“We are honored to host a music icon as beloved as Jimmy Buffett, whose songs also perfectly depict the island vibe lifestyle we offer here in Delray,” said Old School Square COO Holland Ryan. “We’re incredibly humbled that Jimmy and his team selected our safe, secure, open-air venue to bring back his live performances.”
Knowing Buffett, he will switch up the set list every night; he has, after all, 31 albums from which to choose. For his latest, a quarantine album aptly titled Songs You Don’t Know By Heart, he asked fans which deep album cuts they’d like him to re-record with his Coral Reefer Band. He was flooded with more than 10,000 requests, and settled on 15. Expect many of them to turn up, along with the familiar hits and a surprising array of covers.
All shows begin at 8 p.m., with gates opening at 7. Click here to order tickets. Old School Square is at 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach.
