I found a blog this week that I believe many of you will be interested in. I know many people who prefer to shop at Walmart, believe that their prices are lowest. While I would agree that some items are cheaper at Walmart, I still don’t believe they can come close to the Publix buy one, get one free offers. However, for those of you who still prefer Walmart, check out “I Heart The Mart.” I also noticed late last week that the blog posted an article about items you could get for free with coupons at Walmart, so you probably want to subscribe to it for the latest deals.
One of the money-saving tips I’ve discussed before has to do with menu planning based around the current sales. E-Mealz offers a very convenient way to do this, for a small fee. You can choose the store where you prefer to shop as well as selecting the type of meals you want (i.e. low fat, Weight Watchers Points, etc). However, I also ran across a great article by The Simple Dollar with a very detailed list of how to go about creating your own list.
I also want to mention briefly the benefit of signing up for money-saving blog updates. At the bottom of this article is a list of some of my favorite money-saving/frugal living blogs. Many of these sites post deals that are only good for a very short time. For example, Living Social had a deal for one day only where you could purchase a $20 Amazon gift card for $10. But, if you don’t subscribe to the blogs, you miss the deals. The way these email updates are set up makes it very easy to do a quick scan to see if there is something of interest to you without having to read through the entire blog. I find it much more convenient that manually logging into the blogs daily.
