What: 7th Annual “Keep Memories Alive—Steppin’ to the Oldies, Bobby Socks Optional” walk
When: Sunday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m.
Where: Town Center at Boca Raton (6000 Glades Road)
The lowdown: Take a walk on the charitable side this weekend—along with some 400 other participants—as part of a fundraiser for the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center at Florida Atlantic University. Teams and individuals dressed in event T-shirts and oldies attire will trek around Town Center while enjoying classic music from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, courtesy of Majic 102.7 F.M. Join presenting sponsor Bobby Campbell, honorary family John and Dotsa Bitove, and co-chairs Terry Fedele and Jill Poser-Kammet for an event that, in 2011, raised more than $325,000.
Quote: “The spirit and generosity the Caring Heart Auxiliary, sponsors and walkers fuels important programs and services that the Center may otherwise may not be able to offer,” said Kathleen Valentine, Ph.D., R.N, director of the Memory and Wellness Center, which is part of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. “Everyone who participates in the Keep Memories Alive Walk leaves with the satisfaction of knowing that their dollars go toward helping people who are dealing with memory loss and their caregivers.”
About the Memory and Wellness Center: The center, which averages some 16,000 visits per year, offers services and programs to individuals with mild to moderate memory disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.
