A Toast to 8 New Wine Spectator Award Winners in Palm Beach County

The big news: There are eight new Wine Spectator Award of Excellence winners in Palm Beach County this year, which were announced on Monday.

That means 39 restaurants are award winners, up from 34 last year. As with most years, a few fell off the awards board: Casa D’Angelo in Boca, 50 Ocean in Delray (the only Delray restaurant) The Cooper in Palm Beach Gardens, and Trevini Ristorante in Palm Beach.

Two of the new eight this year were Angle at Eau Palm Beach in Manalapan and Meat Market Palm Beach. Both had been on the list before, but fell off in 2018 and obviously put in some hard work to get back on the list.

The other hardworking group was Titou Hospitality, where The Regional Kitchen & Public House in West Palm Beach won an Award of Excellence in 2018. This year, its two sister restaurants joined the list—Pistache French Bistro in West Palm Beach and PB Catch on Palm Beach.

Rounding out the newcomers list: The Capital Grille in Boca Raton, Florie’s at the Four Seasons on Palm Beach, 1000 North in Jupiter, and Lake Worth’s only award winner—Callaro’s Italian Chophouse.

Worth noting is Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach, which won its first Award in 2018, and this year was awarded the elevated title of Best of Award of Excellence.

Wine Spectator grants three different award levels: Grand Award, Best of Award of Excellence, and Award of Excellence. There are two Grand Award winners in Palm Beach County: Marcello’s La Sirena in West Palm Beach (since 2015) and HMF at The Breakers (since 1981). For chain restaurants, each location earns the award on its own—it’s not a chain-wide award—so you’ll see multiples of The Capital Grille, Seasons 52 and Ruth’s Chris Steak House on the list.
