The special pairing dinners continue with Burt & Max’s beer dinner on Aug. 29, featuring local brews from Due South Brewery.
It’s a five-course dinner, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Executive Chef Chris Miracolo will guide you through the pairings. Helping him do that will be Doug Fairall of Due South. Dishes include wahoo, chai-brined pork belly, salad and more. Beers include Lemon Coastline Lager, Caramel Cream Ale, Throwin’ Shade IPA and more—including a chocolate berry porter for dessert, which just sounds amazing.
Reservations are required; cost is $69 per person.

Labor Day brings Miami Gardens Food & Wine Festival
This is a four-day food and wine festival over the Labor Day weekend, and a great excuse to not work at anything but enjoying yourself.
The 3rd Annual Miami Gardens Food & Wine Festival happens Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at the Miami Gardens City Hall, 18605 NW 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens. There are lots of food celebs showing up for various seminars, and of course, more food and wine than you can consume.
This is one of the largest minority culinary gatherings in SoFla, and showcases the talents of our most renowned chefs, spirit producers, and culinary personalities. Some of the celebs include Chef Carla Hall of The Food Network and ABC’s “The Chew” and Grammy Award winning singer and author of “Cornbread Fish’N Collard Greens,” Anthony Hamilton. Additional appearances include: Chef Danny Dominguez, Chef Jenn Ross, Chef D, Angela Yee, Trick Daddy, Trina and the Black Mixologists Club!
