Fire at Kanpai in Boca Raton Closes Restaurant Indefinitely

Kanpai, the popular restaurant at the Northeast corner of Palmetto Park Road and Federal Highway in Boca Raton known for its sushi and Japanese fare, has been closed indefinitely due to a fire that took place early Monday morning. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. When reached for comment, Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services said that the fire is still under investigation.

The venue is currently cordoned off with caution tape, and some of its windows are boarded up with plywood. An unsafe structure notice is posted on the front door. The restaurant announced the closure due to the fire on its social media accounts yesterday.

The incident is the latest in a string of bad luck for the venue, which was also the site of a dispute between patrons that led to a shooting in late 2019.

This post will be updated with more details as they become available.
