The owners of Junior’s Restaurant & Cheesecake in Mizner Park announced Wednesday that the restaurant would be closing after one-and-half years of business.
According to a sign on the building (and a post on Facebook, which has since been removed) the restaurant is “permanently closed for business.”
In a statement provided to Boca mag, Junior’s owner Alan Rosen said, “We expected the volume to be greater than we saw at this location. We enjoyed being a part of the Boca Raton community and thank all of our guests for their business. We also thank our wonderful family of coworkers.”
Known for its cheesecake, the New York City staple has been open since 1950. The business opened the Boca Raton location in November 2017, making it the first restaurant outside of he Big Apple.
Junior’s joins a numbers of restaurants that have closed in recent months in Mizner Park, including Truluck’s after 11 years and Uncle Julio’s.

As I stated would happen two months ago at City Council meeting.
My wife and I walk and eat at many east Boca restaurants as we live in the Golden Triangle. The problem Juniors had was they didn’t take into consideration the quality of delis here. Their food was very average and they were dealing with an older demographic for their restaurant that was expecting quality they’d get at Too Jays, Bagelworks or Flakowitz. It wasn’t there and the food cost more: a bad combo. Not sure Juniors is a Mizner Park type restaurant anyway.
Even Starbucks closing wouldn’t surprise me with the way things have been going at Mizner Park recently. After bending over to fake left-wing hysteria by letting homeless crackheads loiter, and hiring illegals and “refugees” over veterans, it’s no surprise yesterday they announced 150 locations to close next year.
