Palm Beach Wine Auction moves online

If you’re shopping online more now than ever, and want to add some distinguished wines to your home, you may want to put Aug. 20-21 on your calendar.

Those are the days some rare wines from the Palm Beach Wine Auction vault are up for purchase, with some proceeds benefiting the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.  Take a glance at the 3855 lots here: on the Hart Davis Wines Co. website. Early bidding is encouraged and available now.

The wine lots that will benefit the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts education programs are lot numbers 3375-3413.

Some sweets news, both good and not so great:

  • Miami-based Gelatys, with products in Publix, Whole Foods and Winn-Dixie, says it has introduced Gelato Bites as a response to the slowing of traffic in stores since March. The gelato mouthfuls are covered in either milk or white chocolate and come in white chocotella, pistachio chocotella, blueberry yogurt and super dulce de leche. Apparently, the pandemic-related reason here is they are “facilitating a faster and safer distribution”. Not sure how that works, but more gelato on the market is always a good thing.
  • Dunkin Donuts announced at the end of the second quarter last week that it closed 229 Dunkin and Baskin-Robbins stores, which includes 180 Baskin-Robbins International stores (Japan, Russia, India), 10 of its fairly new Speedway locations and 40 regular Dunkin stores.
  • California Pizza Kitchen has filed for bankruptcy, due to problems from the pandemic. There’s no word yet on closing locations, which include venues in Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens and Wellington.
