For the holidays, a local church is working to make sure kids in the community receive books that will instill self-confidence and respect for others.

International Bible Church in Boca Raton is collecting donations to gift children sets of five hard-cover books through its Books for Kids South Florida program.

The books are a part of the Teddy series by Ryan Cohen:

  • Teddy and the Piggy Banks, about saving, being responsible, and sharing
  • Teddy Goes to Work, about working honestly and with joy
  • Teddy and the People Who Make the World Go Round, about how every job and every person matters
  • Teddy Says Words Can Never Hurt You, about staying strong when words hurt
  • Teddy Goes to China, about curiosity and respect for others

The church’s goal is to raise enough money to donate 1,000 sets of the five books to area kids, including Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Fuller Center, Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, and low-income and refugee families.

Donations will be accepted until Dec. 5. To learn more or take part in the initiative, visit ibcnow.org/give/books-for-kids.
