It’s gala season in Boca Raton, and one of the most highly anticipated Balls is also one of the oldest in town.
In January, Boca Raton Regional Hospital will be celebrating its 57th fundraising gala, an event that has become part of Boca tradition.
“People look forward to this event every year,” says Karissa Thomann, Special Events Officer at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation. “This is the 57th year and we’re still running strong, and every year we sell out.”
The first Ball for the Hospital was held in 1962, when a group of women in Boca Raton were working to raise money to build a hospital for the community. Five years of dedicated fundraising enabled the doors to Boca Raton Regional Hospital to open.
Today, the Hospital Ball attracts more than 1,200 people and seeks major entertainment to perform. Last year, The Temptations had the crowd on their feet, and this year, guests are looking forward to a performance by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Afterwards, the dance band Heatwave, will perform music from all genres and times.
Besides the fantastic music, guests are treated to a three-course dinner and cocktails, in the great company of fellow community Hospital supporters.
The event is Co-Chaired by Carrie Rubin and Judi and Allan Schuman. During the Ball, the Hospital will honor 50 physicians for their dedication and commitment to Boca Regional. A special thank you will be given to philanthropists and Ball Honorary Chairs, Anne and Louis Green who have made a significant gift to the Hospital.
“Every year, we’ve raised over $1 million to benefit the hospital, and for the past few years it’s been benefiting our endeavor to advance and enhance patient care,” Thomann says. “It’s the largest and definitely the most important signature event for the hospital.”
The 57th Annual Boca Raton Regional Hospital Ball is Jan. 12, 2019 from 6 to 11:30 p.m. at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, 501 E. Camino Real in Boca Raton. To buy tickets or for more information, visit donate.brrh.com/ball
