Callaro’s Steak House Opens in Lake Worth

Six months after giving up its spot in Manalapan’s Plaza Del Mar shopping center, now the site of the reborn John G’s, Callaro’s Steak House (717 Lake Ave., 561/588-9730) has itself been reborn in downtown Lake Worth.

The former L’Anjou French restaurant was “taken down to the studs,” says Beth Scragg, partner in Callaro’s with husband-chef Keith and namesake Danny Callaro. Only the barroom’s hardwood floor remains, with the rest of the eatery lightened and brightened, gilded with an antique saloon-style piano and works of local artists.

The menu remains mostly the same as in the restaurant’s previous incarnation, Scragg said, with a few additions to its roster of USDA Prime steaks and chops. Starters include such steakhouse staples as crab cocktail, escargot and stuffed mushrooms, while various surf ‘n’ turf dishes, 24 and 48-ounce porterhouses, and a daily fresh catch round out the offerings.

Callaro’s is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Sunday brunch. And in parking-challenged Lake Worth, it also offers valet parking nightly after 5 p.m.
