Local Radio Host Debuts Italian Wine

Fans of his longtime radio gig in South Florida-the laugh-out-loud funny and often outrageous “Paul and Young Ron Show” with co-host Ron Brewer-probably don’t think of Paul Castronovo as a classic Renaissance man. But don’t let this guy’s guy fool you.

Castronovo, who is celebrating 20 years on the air with Brewer-read all about the radio team (mornings on BIG 105.9-FM and Gater 98.7-FM) in the December/January issue of Boca Raton-can talk the talk about more than just his beloved Florida Gators. He also is a budding wine maker.

The first offering from Castronovo Vineyards-located in Abruzzo, Italy and part of the Galasso family’s San Lorenzo winery-is called Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo. It’s an Italian red that the Castronovo Vineyards website describes as having flavors of “bilberry, mulberry and plum notes followed by spicy and rich balsamic tones of vanilla and coffee.” It is suggested that diners pair the wine, which is available at retail outlets in South Florida, with red meats, game and aged cheeses.

For more information, check out the Castronovo Vinyards website-and learn more about Paul and Young Ron in the upcoming issue of Boca Raton, on newsstands in late November.
