A la carte
I hope you’ve been out there dining with the Flavor Palm Beach promotion during September, or trying the Boca Restaurant Month specials. I have, and wanted to let you know about one in particular because of a creative twist in the menu.
The Colony Hotel on Palm Beach, with an interior decorated in over-the-top Palm Beachiness by Carlton Varney (love it!) is one of the restaurants offering a three-course, prix-fixe lunch for $20. This is a great deal at a wonderful hotel. What makes this one stand out is their option for your third course – dessert OR a glass of wine. How very civilized! It’s a great idea I wish others would offer, too. Sweets are great, don’t get me wrong, but a nice glass of rose at lunch is Palm Beach Divine.
155 Hammon Ave., Palm Beach; 561/655-5430.
Remember the short-lived Del Frisco Grille on Palm Beach? It was at Royal Poinciana Plaza for two years, and then closed in 2015. The space is now home to the fab Sant Ambroeus, which serves high-end Italian meals and drinks. And gelato. Well, the Del Frisco Grille folks are trying again, this time in Fort Lauderdale in the Las Olas Square building, 501 Las Olas Blvd. The company is hiring 150 employees right now, too, so that’s all good news.
