The Hottest Hair Trends

No need to feel bad if you didn’t catch the Emmys on the red carpet or in your living room.

We are positive you were able to get fashion fix with the gazillion fashion love-it-hate-it reports. That’s why this time we’re focusing on the crown that doesn’t make the head weary—hair.  Here are our top six sizzlers:

1. The ponytail tale: Really simple. Quite a hit on the runways, the ponytail is the easiest day- to- evening hairdo. All you need is some Pomade to discipline the strays. You can even sweep the ponytail on the side and no one has to know you didn’t get a chance to shampoo those tresses.

2. Hey, Bob: Bobs have made a major comeback this Fall. Choppy, angled or voluminous like Michelle Obama’s signature look. We’re actually considering braving this trend, once we muster up some courage!  Who can forget Jackie O’s iconic bob? Also, Jessica Pare of Zubi Zubi fame wore it well at the Emmys:

3. Get them buns: The bun, our favorite vintage trend was quite the rage on the red carpet.  We saw all kinds—high, low, the good old sock bun and more. Psst! We’ve got a beauty secret that will help you create that bun in minutes. Check out this hair doughnut from Claires follow instructions on the label and voila, you’ll be chic in seconds. That’s just one way to go about it; you can make it lower or sweep it on by the side. Use a curling iron to add some waves on the front if you do go with a low bun for that extra oomph.

4. Uneven textures: If you got Keratin or Japanese straightening done to fight the frizzy monster that thrives on the Floridian humidity, then after six months boredom is inevitable. The solution – curling iron, we love the Sedu but any drugstore brand, especially the one that has a “wave” attachment can work too. Section your hair and leave the upper part straight, curl the ends and use the wave steamer slightly for the ends, spray it up and you’ll be whistling at the mirror in no time!

5. Braidy bunch: See Glamour’s article on DIY braids. Ranging from easy to uber complicated, a braid can add a lot of drama to the every day. Fish tail, French, Simple—sport it anyway and you won’t regret it.

6. Parting shot: Hair trend pundits are wowing at extreme deep side partings to complement any and every hairdo. Team with floral and bejeweled accessories to finish the look and breathe life into any outfit. Jeans included – yes you read that right. You can also pair the bejeweled hair accessories with sparkly ballet flats. We love what Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) from Mad Men did at the red carpet:

Beauty tip: Use the highpoint of your brow as a starting point.
