Café Via Flora Opens in Palm Beach

A pair of first-time restaurateurs have opened a casual, Mediterranean-esque eatery in one of the cutest, coziest spaces in Palm Beach.

Café Via Flora (240 Worth Ave., 561/514-4959) is the product of Heinrich Lowenberg and Pamela Lomba, who’ve taken over the restaurant-eating location on Worth Avenue for their 50-seat, lunch-only (for now) eatery. With summer’s heat and humidity now on the wane, the café’s pretty outdoor patio, with a handful of tables under white canvas umbrellas surrounded by manicured plantings, is what al fresco SoFla dining is all about.

Breakfast and dinner service are reportedly to be added soon; at lunch the menu offers such light and familiar dishes as avocado-topped gazpacho, grilled shrimp and scallop salad, and marinated portbello mushrooms with goat cheese and greens, as well as slightly heartier fare like fried calamari and shrimp in spicy tomato sauce, pizza margherita, and beef and tuna burgers.
