From October 18 through the Great Debate (as we’ve started calling it)—the final presidential debate of this election at Lynn University October 22—Delray should be over the top. Or at least MORE over the top than usual. On October 18 what used to be known as cute little “Jazz on the Avenue” will morph into a street party the length of town with Spin The Vote, a series of digital DJ mixologists along the Avenue, parties throughout—and more.
On Saturday night, October 20, a total of 88 lucky diners who are not afraid of heights will be suspended 180 feet in the air for dinner. This gourmet “Dinner in the Sky” sponsored by Lamborghini costs $500. There will be seatings at 5:50 p.m., 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., and weight limits apply. I myself cannot imagine a gourmet dinner high above Old School Square, but then I can get wobbly on a swing set. Still, I hear tickets are selling fast, so you’d better secure your sky seat asap (call 561/279-1380, ext. 17).
There will be debate viewing parties everywhere, but an official Delray one will be at Union, 8 East Atlantic Avenue, the town’s hot new place to see and be seen.
All this, and the season hasn’t even really started yet…
