What do you and the Miami Heat have in common? You both rock wearing white, the hottest shade this summer. The Heat snagged its second consecutive NBA title, and now it’s time for fashionistas to scoop up some haute summer looks.

With a little help from Sandy Richards, who handles public relations atBloomingdale’s of Town Center at Boca Raton (5840 Glades Road, Boca Raton, 561/394-2228), we’ve come up with the top colors for summer and how to wear them best.

Last summer was all about neon, but the days of looking like a pack of highlighters are over. This year the style focus is whites, brights, and metallics. Summer 2013 gives an air of simplicity and effortlessness, while remaining chic and trendy.

White pants with a colorful pattern give the illusion of longer legs, while a cropped white jacket draws the eye up and away from your midsection. White bags are always a great accessory for summertime, especially here in South Florida, as dark leather bags can overheat.

Bright hues in a two-tone dress or on a fun accessory like a bracelet or watch can be a great way to make a colorful statement.  Even switching up the swatch of your shades from black to a bright will enhance your look instantly. Adding a pop of color to any outfit makes you stand out in the sun.

Metallics are fun and elegant. Carry a silver clutch or wear a gold flat to enrich your ensemble. Match the tones you are wearing to silver, gold or rose gold and pick jewelry accordingly, such as a bold ring or chain necklace. Pair a flirty pair of metallic shorts with a neutral top for a chic summer look.

Basketball season might be over, but summer is just beginning. Unlike the San Antonio Spurs, with the right touches of fashion you can even beat the heat.
